SEX-DISAGGREGATED GREEN LOAN STATISTICS REPORT HAS BEEN PUBLISHED
The Bank of Mongolia constantly works on improving the scope of statistical data of the banking sector, and this time, we present the statistics on sex-disaggregated green loans granted to entities* and citizens in 2022 and 2023. The report will henceforth be published annually and includes information on outstanding loan amount, number of accounts, weighted average interest rate, and maturity.
Total green loan
As of 2023, banks have issued green loans to 6,277 borrowers totaling 800.5 billion MNT, of which 33.8% or 270.6 billion MNT were female borrowers. Per the economic activities sector, female borrowers were a majority in only green buildings making up 60% of its sector's outstanding loan or 22.0 billion MNT. On the other contrary, sustainable agriculture, land use, forestry, & eco tourism granted the most to male borrowers, amounting to 107.9 billion MNT or 94% of its sector.

In terms of number of accounts, 57% or 3,592 were granted to male borrowers and were the majority in all economic activities sectors. For example, even though the majority of outstanding loan balances in green building were issued to female borrowers, male borrowers led the number of borrowers at 57%.

*In the case of entity, sex is classified depending on the ownership sex:
If the entity has few shareholders, by the sex of the owner of 50 percent or more of the shares;
If the entity has several shareholders, by the sex of the owner of the largest share;
If the entity has 2 owners with the same share, it shall be determined by the sex of the owner who is dominantly involved in the daily activities.
