According to the law of the Central Bank of Mongolia, the Bank of Mongolia has the exclusive right to issue the national currency approved by the Parliament /State Great Khural/. Within the scope of this exclusive right, the Bank of Mongolia regularly performes main activities such as issuing currency into circulation, withdrawing from circulation, transporting, storing, ensuring the required reserve and the proper structure of the national currency. Moreover, fighting against counterfeiting, the Bank of Mongolia focuses on improving the security features of the banknotes. On October 2nd, 2006, first time the Bank of Mongolia issued its the largest denomination of 20,000 Togrog banknote into circulation. Also same time in 2006, the first commemorative 20,000 Togrog banknote written "Great Mongol State 800 years" for the 800th anniversary of the establishment of the Great Mongol State was issued. On the front side of the commemorative banknote, 4-digit serial number was stamped in the bottom left corner.
